ABOUT ME

Hugh Yamada is a singer songwriter originally from Tochigi, Japan who sings in Japanese and English. His music sounds very simple but has nice melodies and harmonies when incorporated with a band. Hugh has been influenced by Japanese folk singers such as Takuro Yoshida and Yutaka Ozaki, as well as American 60’s-70’s folk/rock musicians like The Beatles, Simon and Gerfankel. The Singer Songwriter started singing in New York when he was 19 years old.

After staying 7 years in New York, he did a tour all around in Japan by bicycle with his guitar and CDs. While he was on the tour he got on to 88 radio shows and performed his music.

Since the last cross country he has done in Japan, he's been drawing sketches and has exhibited in couple different art galleries in NYC.

​

After 4 years from the last cross country in Japan, he is now taking it to next stage to do  Going “S” Adventure Tour, a cross country in the USA via bicycle.

山田飛佑(やまだひゆう)

 

栃木県出身のシンガーソングライター。

日本人の父とアメリカ人の母を持ち、18歳までを日本で過ごす。

 

大学からニューヨークへ渡米し、声楽を専攻。20歳の頃からシンガーソングライターとしての活動を始める。影響を受けているミュージシャンは主に吉田拓郎とThe Beatles。

 

古き良き日本を思わせるストレートな歌詞とアメリカの大陸感溢れるカントリーフォークサウンドを取り入れ、自らの体験を歌い続ける。7年間のアメリカ滞在後、2013年には自身のアルバムを持って帰国し、自転車での日本縦断弾き語りツアーを実行。各地での路上や流しでの収入のみを頼りに約一年間旅を続け、計88回ラジオに出演。札幌から沖縄までの旅を成功させる。

また、日本縦断以降、アートにも力を入れており、ニューヨークでも３回ギャラリーで展示されるなど、精力的に活動中。彼の絵はインスタグラムで見ることができる。

 

日本縦断から四年、今度は自転車でのアメリカ横断に挑戦します。
